Notes from the Rectory for May

What a very Special Month we have had, full of APCMs, the final week of the Lent Course, Stations of the Cross, Good Friday Reflections, a Sunrise Service and then Easter Day, with most of these happening in the first two weeks.

During the Lent Course, which focused on the way we should be as disciples, we reflected on scripture, pieces of art along with plenty of discussion and helping hand for each other as we journeyed together along the path of discipleship.

It was wonderful to see so many at the Sunrise Service on Easter Morning. With about 36 of us there sharing the Bread and Wine together in this ecumenical service. It was also good to share breakfast together, generously provided by Caroline Latham.

There is however some sad news which is that the shop at South Petherwin will be closing at the end of May. I know there will be many who are sad to see it go, but unfortunately it has been running at a considerable deficit, owing to lack of use, which of course was not a sustainable situation.

You may also know by now that St Torney’s at North Hill is also facing closure if regular financial support is not forthcoming.  A Parish meeting is to be held on 15th June to discuss this further and allow as many people as possible to attend.

We are entering a new month in our journey together and I pray we do so with these words from Julian of Norwich in mind.

‘With God all shall be well

And all manner of things shall be well.’

Love and Prayers

Heather
